We do education differently

The traditional method of education is broken, so we came up with our own. Instead of treating education as a linear mechanical process, we treat it as a non-linear symbiotic process (like nature).

How our method works

Traditional education systems produce cookie-cutter humans with no souls or uniqueness. We provide students with an environment and building blocks — then we let emergence happen.

  • Environment

    A students ability to grow is heavily influenced by their environment. We provide the ultimate learning environment with online community, accountability, live Q&A's and mentorship.

  • Building blocks

    Students are unique and creative, so instead of killing that part of them (like most), we provide them with building blocks of information and let them arrange them anyway they like!

  • Mental reprogramming

    The #1 killer of education is psychological, not logical. For students to learn and evolve, we must reprogram their minds to enhance awareness, cognition and remove delusions.

  • Real-world application

    In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not. We cover the theory, then instantly apply it in the real world to see what happens. This creates "thinker doers".

  • Real-world goals

    Certificates and degrees are abstractions that don't reflect reality and give false entitlement. Our students don't get certificates, they aim for, optimize and achieve the real-world goal.

We teach the full stack

Most courses teach a specific skill like sales or marketing, this creates clueless entrepreneurs who don't understand the whole. To succeed in business you need to learn the "full stack" — five interconnected layers of consciousness built ontop of each other

  1. Mental awareness — Identity, purpose, discipline, beliefs
  2. Mental cognition — Focus, plans, prioritize, problem solving
  3. Business principles — Frameworks, concepts, mental models
  4. Business disciplines — Strategy, product, marketing, sales
  5. Business processes — Tools, systems, workflows, metrics

All five layers are explained below...

Layer 1. Mental awareness

Mental awareness is the boot loader for everything. It's responsible for your identity, self image, belief systems, awareness of your own actions, thoughts and behavior.

It's the "awake and alert" function that allows you to catch things, identify patterns, think rationally and avoid delusions, and your ability to self control and self discipline when emotions kick in.

We start our work here by flushing out delusions, rebuilding identities and making people more conscious of reality.

Layer 2. Mental cognition

Mental cognition is the second layer, it's responsible for problem solving, critical thinking, planning, scheduling and prioritizing.

It's the "executive" function that weighs all possible actions to determine their contribution towards goals and then prioritizes them for execution in the logical order of importance.

We enhance mental cognition in our students minds so they can think for themselves and troubleshoot without instructions.

Layer 3. Business principles

Business principles are fundamental beliefs, rules, or values that represent what is desirable and positive for the business and the people within it. Business principles together form a philosophy.

We think differently about business, we see it as analytical, quantitative, scientific and more "engineering" than "charismatic". We have a bias towards value and results, not social popularity.

We teach our students our idiosyncratic business philosophy and allow them to adopt it as their own or edit it so that its more personally aligned to their own beliefs and philosophy.

Consulting.com's business philosophy is built on 15 principles:

  • Pick a niche

    Find an area you're interested in, focus on it and understand it better than anybody else.

  • Solve a problem

    Identify a painful widespread problem your niche has and solve it with your product.

  • Work from the market backwards

    All ideas should originate from your market, not your brain. You serve them, not yourself.

  • Customer obsession

    Do whats best for your customer, because that is what's best for you, you just don't know it.

  • High standards

    Great just isn't good enough. Set excruciatingly high standards & demand them from everyone

  • Frugality

    Constraints breed resourcefulness, self-sufficiency and invention. Do more with less.

  • Relentless grit

    Some people work harder, some smarter, some longer. We do all three at once.

  • Laser focus

    Keep the main thing the main thing and ruthlessly eliminate distraction.

  • Go all in

    Be all in or get all out. There's no halfway, no plan b. Thinking small is self-fulfilling prophecy

    Business is a game of solving problems, adding value and getting paid. Fame is not business.

  • Think scientifically

    Reason from first principles like a scientist or engineer. Use data, test and iterate everything.

    Think in systems: Inputs, processes, outputs and feedback. Measure & optimize everything.

  • Cashflow over profits

    Cashflows are more important than profits and earnings. Seek to grow cashflows, not profits.

  • It's all about the long-term

    Make short-term sacrifices for long-term success. Business is a marathon, not a sprint!

Layer 4. Business disciplines

Business disciplines are specific branches of knowledge relating to business functions like: sales, marketing, product, operations, accounting, legal, support and management.

Most online courses cover one discipline, this creates single skilled workers who get eaten alive in business. We teach you multiple disciplines so that you can start and grow a business yourself, moving quickly, without hiring contractors or staff.

We create polymath entrepreneurs that are multi-discipline and pack the firepower of 30 people in one. Imagine outproducing 30 people in 1/3 the time. That's what we refer to as "full stack".

Business processes are sets of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular result. Every business discipline has multiple business processes that sit on top. Think of them as step-by-step instructions, like a recipe for baking a cake, except for anything!

Example: Marketing is a business discipline where you understand the theory of how it works. But to actually execute successful marketing, you need to know the step-by-step instructions of creating ads, adjusting budgets, measuring KPI's, troubleshooting errors, etc.

Most online courses teach you high level theories with vague instructions on how to execute the theories in the real world. This leaves students clueless about how to execute what they know and actually get results.
