I come from a background primarily in engineering where consulting is a pretty common thing that a lot of people do. Prior to joining the Consulting.com Consulting Accelerator program, I was a lot of many of those people. I had a nine-to-five job, freelanced on the side, and worked with a small number of clients on primarily a time and materials basis.
There is very much a restriction on how much work you can do in a model like that, in that your time is limited. Entirely value-based pricing, a lot easier to provide, not directly linked to my time, and generated more revenue in week four in that program when I started it and today, than I did in the last six months of my previous consulting. And I was doing pretty good at that.
